For Red Shed Malting, the grains are a part of the family, too.
Our barley, wheat, and oats are grown by the dedicated farming team at Hamill farms, across 15km of land in Central Alberta. (And if you think our farm team looks similar to our malthouse team, you've got great eyes!)

April 14th, 2022 As I write this, spring seeding is quickly approaching.
Lately we have been hauling the last of our canola and wheat into the elevators. We have also hauled some grain to the seed cleaning plant to have a good supply for the malt plant. We will be doing some last minute servicing and checks on the tractors and seeding equipment so that we are ready to go.
Weather here has been quite dry. However we should have good moisture to get the crops off to a good start. We will definitely be wanting to see some rain by mid May to keep all the crops happy. Hoping for some warm weather ahead because boy this has been a cold week!
* 'desk' is loosely being used to represent a surface John perched at for a short time to write this; he's a very busy farmer with grain to haul.
